This is not a show for the skimmers, casual listeners, or fair weathered fans.

This is a show for the obsessed.

We have 3 main episode formats:

  • Book Club

Join us for a read-along conversation on our favorite books: we talk at the half way point and again at the end of the book. As co-hosts we alternate suggesting books we love or want to read. We mostly read novels, and we talk about the characters as if they are real people, because aren’t they?

  • Not Your Average Interview

We got sick of listening to regular interviews, but still wanted to get to know the creators we love (authors, artists, musicians, comedians …) so what did we do!? We combined the book club format with the interview format. We invite amazing creators onto the show and together we read a book that is meaningful to them, and discuss both the book and their life and work.

  • Musical Deep Dives

Imagine the depth of a book club conversation, applied to music! We talk about musicians we love, exploring the meaning of their lyrics, the themes in their albums, the impact of their songs on our lives, and all the fun facts about the artist and their work.

MEET THE HOSTS

When my husband told me he wanted to unsubscribe from my monologues on the meaning of every Taylor Swift lyric, the communication styles of Sally Rooney’s characters, and the genius of Pen15, I decided I would start a podcast where I can talk about these obsessions on the internet, with people who actually care. I still love my husband, and frankly I don’t want to hear about his shit either. I live in Portland, Oregon and I drive a minivan, but I have a podcast so don’t worry I’m still cool.

I love books, and pondering, and pondering about books, and reading books about pondering. I'm happiest when organizing my Google calendar or taking a bath - not usually together, but I'll try anything once. I tell myself I'm a good mom even though my kid is always asking for a new one. I live in Amman, Jordan where I am learning to eat hummus well and speak Arabic poorly.

Marie Haller

It's been more years than we'll share since I was an undergraduate English major, but I'm still obsessed with talking about books. When Caitlin asked me to be a co-host of the podcast book club, the 18-year-old inside of me finally received vindication that my whimsical educational choice is and was worthwhile. I'm a long-time Bay Area resident but identify as a bi-coastal Pennsylvanian. When I'm not reading or talking about books, I'm ideally walking my dog or eating stone fruit directly off the trees at my family's fruit farm.
